Description

Jacketed Liquid Mixing Tank :

A liquid mixing jacketed tank (also known as a jacketed mixing vessel or jacketed reactor) is an industrial process vessel engineered to simultaneously blend liquid-to-liquid or solid-to-liquid ingredients while delivering precise thermal control (heating or cooling).

By combining a top-entry agitator with a dual-wall jacketed vessel, these tanks prevent temperature fluctuations, maintain product viscosity, and ensure homogenous mixing without localized scorching or chilling.

How It Works :

  1. Agitation & Homogenization: The drive motor turns an internal shaft equipped with specialized impellers (e.g., anchor, turbine, or propeller) to maintain continuous fluid motion, prevent phase separation, and enhance heat transfer rates.

  2. Thermal Circulation: A heating medium (steam, hot water, or thermal oil) or cooling medium (chilled water or glycol) circulates through the sealed outer jacket space.

  3. Indirect Heat Transfer: Thermal energy conducts evenly across the inner stainless steel shell wall, raising, lowering, or holding the liquid batch at a specific target temperature.

Heating & Cooling Jacket Types :

Jacket Configuration Construction & Pressure Capability Best Application
Conventional Full Jacket An outer shell enclosing the inner vessel with a simple open flow channel. Low-pressure heating or cooling on smaller tanks (<2,000 L).
Dimple Jacket Welded spot-matrix pattern providing high structural strength with thinner gauge steel. High-pressure steam heating; cost-effective for medium to large vessels.
Half-Pipe Coil Jacket Half-pipe tubing welded spirally around the vessel exterior in single or multiple zones. High-pressure, high-velocity thermal oil or glycol circulation; excellent thermal shock resistance.
