A pulverizer pin mill grinder (also known as a universal pin mill or impact disc mill) is high-speed fine-grinding equipment designed to pulverize brittle, crystalline, fibrous, or heat-sensitive dry materials into fine powders (typically 40 to 300 mesh / 370 to 50 microns).

Unlike hammer mills that rely on free-swinging hammers striking breaker plates, pin mills grind material through high-velocity centrifugal impacts between interlocking rows of hardened steel pins mounted on opposing rotating discs.

Working Principle & Disc Configurations :

  1. Centrifugal Feed: Material is fed axially into the center of the grinding chamber through a hopper or screw feeder.

  2. High-Speed Impact: As the material travels outward toward the perimeter via centrifugal force, it passes through concentric rows of alternating pins spinning at high speeds (up to 6,000+ RPM).

  3. Particle Breakdown: Grinding occurs through repeated high-energy collisions: pin-to-particle, particle-to-particle, and particle-to-housing wall.
